Procedure

Phase A— While stirring the water at 500-600 RPM, add Pemulen TR-2 and allow the polymer to fully disperse. Once Pemulen TR-2 is fully dispersed, add the remaining ingredients in Phase A. Continue stirring and heat to 80°C.

Phase B—Add all ingredients to a separate vessel and heat to 80 °C. Once both Phase A and Phase B have reached 80°C, slowly add Phase B to Phase A. Mix Phase AB at 75°C for 10 minutes. Turn off heat and continue to mix at 500-600 rpm until cooled to less than 30°C.

Phase C—Once the temperature of Phase AB is less than 30°C, add the tocopheryl acetate. Once the tocopheryl acetate is fully incorporated, pH adjust the formulation to 6.25 - 6.75 using triethanolamine.

Properties

Measured 24 hours after formulation completed:
pH: 6.2 - 6.8
Viscosity: 4000 - 4500 cps
(Brookfield DV-I+, Spindle RV-3, 10 rpm - wait 1 minute).
